A leading surgeon in stem cell transplantation talks about his education and experience in this video. Basically from Gujarat state of India, he divided his time between England and Germany to get training in orthopedics and spinal surgery. He received many fellowships from America, Australia, and Switzerland. He is widely travelled for training too. During his fellowship, he published two papers, one on spinal canal stenosis and other on genetic correction in scoliosis.
His services can be availed in spinal surgeries, joints replacements, revision joints surgeries, revision spinal surgery, correction of deformity etc.
According to the surgeon, there are 3000-15000 cases worldwide, which are treated with stem cell transplantation for spinal fusion and avascular necrosis, etc.
The surgeon, furthermore, discusses the procedure of stem cell therapy by using mesenchymal stem cells. They are isolated from patient’s iliac crest and after few measures, injected into the site where fusion is required. There is no fear of reaction in this procedure as doctors use patient’s own stem cells. This technique is considered better than other procedures. In bone graft surgeon, the patients have to endure lot of pain. Therefore, doctors consider this technique safer comparatively.

There is another technique too, that of Bone Morphogenic protein, known as BMP. But as it is very expensive, few people opt for it.
