We all know the attorneys cannot guarantee a particular outcome or a particular result.

Despite that restriction, they’re still many guarantees lawyers can make in their marketing messages and in their customer service.

Imagine if you saw an attorney marketing message with a lawyer guaranteed that the attorneys spoke to was licensed to practice law in the state of New York.

Would that fact alone help you make a decision about whether that lawyer or that law firm was right for you?

The reality is that every single lawyer who practices law in New York is required to be licensed in order to practice here.
The mere fact that an attorney might guarantee in a marketing message that he or his associates are licensed to practice in New York is, in my opinion, not helpful for you to distinguish one lawyer from another.

Why is that?

It’s because every lawyer must be licensed in order to practice law in New York. If every attorney must be licensed, the fact that one lawyer guarantees that his attorneys are licensed in New York tends to be meaningless.

What this really comes down to is a guarantee without any distinction whatsoever.
