You brought a lawsuit.
You are seeking compensation.
For all the harms and losses you suffered.

You believe someone was careless.
As a result of their carelessness, you suffered permanent injury.

You brought a lawsuit here in the state of New York.
Maybe it was a car accident.
May be involved in proper medical care by a doctor.
Maybe a relative of viewers died because of someone else’s negligence.

On the first day of trial, you are running late. You are stuck in traffic. You think that the court on time.

You can reach her lawyers.
His cell phone is off.

You were worried that they are going to start your trial without you being present.

Can the judge do that?

Can the judge proceed forward with your trial if he were not in court? Your attorney knows that you have every intention of being in court each day. He also knows that you know where the court houses.

He’s sitting outside the courtroom waiting for you.
The judge told everyone that trial would start at 9:30 AM. It’s now 1030. You are still not there.

That’s a problem.

The judge is waiting.
The attorneys are waiting.
The jury is waiting.
