This patient presented with generalized severe periodontal disease resulting in extensive bone loss around the existing dentition (teeth). Despite having all of his teeth, they were in an extremely compromised situation requiring the need of a dental specialist for restoration. Periodontal disease is a major concern for dental practitioners and its prevention and control is our utmost priority here at Rigby Advanced Dental. The patient reported extreme difficulty when eating because his teeth would move and shift upon opening and closing his mouth. The patient wanted to avoid complete denture use if possible and not worry about removing them every night or even worse in public.
After being given the pros and cons of differing treatment plans the patient decided to proceed with dental implants as the foundation for his smile transformation. In total, 11 dental implants were utilized for his full mouth rehabilitation. Hybrid prostheses (a metal sub-framework with pink acrylic for the gums and premium denture teeth on top) were attached to the dental implants and the patient was able to avoid any of his public fears with confidence.
