A horrifying security video has captured the moment a man walking through a gas station was engulfed in flames after a car nearby crashed into a gas pump.
Chris Porter, of Clarksville, Tennessee, had just finished eating at G’s Pancake House on South Riverside Drive when he stopped in at the Exxon Mobile gas station convenience store next door.
Just after 8am, Porter was exiting the store when a white 2008 Lincoln MKZ drove into oncoming traffic and barreled into the gas station parking lot.

He missed being hit by the car, but when the car struck a gas pump it set off an explosion that caught Porter on fire.
‘He was an innocent bystander just caught up in the fireball,’ Ray Williams of the Clarksville Fire Department told The Leaf Chronicle.
Williams described the burns which cover 40 per cent of Porter’s body as ‘severe and life-threatening.’

Being treated: Porter is currently in critical but stable condition at the Vanderbilt University burn unit
Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, a helicopter was not able to transport the victim to a burn center.
Instead, Porter was driven to Gateway Hospital, and later transferred to the burn unit at Vanderbilt University.
As of Friday morning, Porter remains in critical but stable condition there.
But it could have been a lot worse.
